By Paddle Wheeler down the Chena River, Fairbanks

We loved our time in Denali but this morning we departed for Fairbanks just South of the Arctic Circle.
We boarded a paddle wheeler and whilst it was touristy it was an interesting range of activities.
The pictures tell the story
There is a major focus on dogs in Alaska and especially in Fairbanks. This is the training camp for dogs in the annual dog sled race across the snow and ice under very difficult circumstances. I have a great little movie but I understand that the last one would not open
A reindeer filmed from the boat. We saw another with reddish antlers but don't think it was Rudolph as his nose was not shiny
We also visited a Chena Village and saw many interesting sites.
Gail in the Chena village with a range of pelts. This was organised and conducted by local First Nation people
This is a winter parka made from local pelts. It took 6 months to make and is considered to be irreplaceable. Yes Robert did have his photo taken with her.

We sailed down to the junction of the Tanana River that flows into the Yukong River. As we returned towards Fairbanks there were lots of very large impressive homes along with log cabins. Wonderful
jetties and landings some that were suitable for plane moorings

I love the parka but it's probably a bit warm for our climate...mind you I do complain how cold our house gets in winter...
