Brussels and the Delirium tremors

We explored further afield today starting with the Atomium. This is still a stunning building today but in 1958 it must have been something special! We were expecting a short visit but stayed for hours.

It is hard to capture on film! It is a series of large modules some that have several levels. These are joined by escalators or stairs. Each has a display.

The view from the top is great.

This part of Brussels has many places to visit. We were too cold for the waterpark, too old for the Mini Europe so settled on The Atomium. We had a view of them all from out viewing platform.

Rob crossing over! It was a bit like a space ship.
Come to think of it I don't recall ever being in a Space Ship . You could look out the portholes and see  Planet Earth. Saw a message today. " Save the Earth! It's the only planet with beer"

It was time for the Cathedral so back on the Metro we went to Brussels Park and walked down to St Michaels and  St. Gudule Cathedral.

The inside had very old stained glass and huge columns. Also an interesting Treasury.

Gail had her mind on chocolate, but mine was on beer!

It was lunch time so we went to our favourite pub from last visit. It took a bit of locating but the
incentive was there.

Rob outside. This is an inside pub!!

It has not changed since 1928. We will return again in 2028. Perhaps we will need some help.

The view as we departed. Some of that Belgium beer is strong!

We did some shopping then met up with Helen and Tony at the Pink Delirium.

First was a delirium tremors voted the best beer in the world. We tried all three but after that we slowed down.

A great outing. Can't seem to remember much about what else we did today!

The symbol for the Delirium beer is a pink elephant.
After a few beers I saw lots of sets of triplets in the bar. I discovered that Gail had 2 identical sisters!
