Brussels : Beer, Chocolate and Lace

We enjoyed walking around the area that we had visited yesterday afternoon. Not much different from yesterday but more time to enjoy the delights of Belgium.
We walked past the Mannekin Piss and up to the Town Hall. Last visit we were able to tour but this time it was not open so looked at the exterior and the central courtyard.

We were able to locate the tiny pub that we visited last year down a tiny passageway. A la Becasse
is a local's hidden gem and Tony and Robert enjoyed a large jug of White Lambic and later a tasting tray of their beers.

Nothing has changed since the 1920's. A small pub with regulars who enjoy the local beers.

If we visit again next year we might be given locals status!

What to do next? We stopped off at the St. Nicholas church! Great stained glass.

We walked past the shops that sell waffles, mussels, lace and chocolate and much more.

                                                                   Nougat

                                                                 Classy chocolates..

                                                           Not so classy chocolate!

                                                       Waffles and loads of cream.

                                                                         Lace

Rob and the chocolates and cakes!
What to do after this..we went to the Greek-Turkish-Italian area for a great Italian feast. We waddled back for a mid afternoon rest!

Ha! I know what souvenir I am going to bring home... not so classy chocolate! (Possibly not, the thought of carrying chocolate half way round Europe isn't appealing)

I'd go for the nougat.

I'd go for the nougat. Then the beer, as soon as the sun was across the yardarm ;)
