Tulips mania

At one time there was real tulip mania. Prices of special bulbs were as high as a house. Then the bubble burst! Today the mania is fighting the crowds ton get into the Keukenhof Gardens. We departed to beat the crowds and arrived soon after opening. It is still early in the season but the display time is short at 8 weeks maximum!

This place is magical. It covers 79 acres with almost 8 million bulbs planted each year. There are tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and lilium and much more. There are fields and gardens, indoor pavilions and outdoor displays. We will share just a few of the 8 million photos!

Some were arranged in special designs. Each year they select a theme. This year it is Dutch Design.

                                          There are hyacinths and..

                                                   Liliums..

                                                               and more liliums!

The gardens were wonderful. As they used to say.."real kodak moments!"

                                                   A cheesey moment.

                                                           Woops ..wrong one!

                                                             Tulip car and caravan.

                                                       One size fits all.

We also had a view of the tulip fields from the top of the windmill.

It was a wonderful visit and the rain held off for us. There was a shower as we drove back to the ship.
