Windmills of Kinderdjik

With windmills dating back to the 1500's this is the best grouping of windmills that remain. There are about 19 mills in different styles. Two are open for visitors but the others are operating mills still pumping water out of the polders.
It has been granted World Heritage status.
We saw a film and had a boat trip that went along a canal in front of the windmills. We also visited one museum mill but what we did most was take photos of these old treasures.

An older mill constructed in stone.

                                                     A group of thatched windmills.

Yes we did enjoy the reflections. Is this photo upside down?

                                                          OK. Enough windmills!

This is a photo of the reeds!

                                                           Miller Rob.

Gail and Rob...ignore those things in the background!

We visited this same spot last year when we moored next to the windmills. This time we came by bus from Rotterdam and returned to pick up the boat from Schoonhaven. Interesting scenery with many houses having a thatched roof.

Love the windmills, the boys were fascinated with these too.
